Having taken great pains to learn as much as I can, I’m now moving forward to invest in a goat enterprise. I will be using New Zealand Kikos to provide quality meat to customers for whom chevon is a staple food. These animals will be raised without chemical inputs and using natural forages, resulting in a more nutritious, cleaner meat.
As of spring 2019, the breeding program is close to being started, with anticipated product available by spring of 2020. Pedigree and physical conformation will be the guiding principles in selection of four or five breeding does and two bucks. Fencing and facilities are in the planning stages now. Stay tuned for updates in the coming months. Breeding stock will also be available, as warranted in non-cull animals.
